Surviving Coachella 101

If you’ve been following me for a while (or if you know me at all) you know that I LOVE all things Coachella. The music, the art, the fashion (duh), and the food. Since I’ll be enjoying my 6th year of the festival in a few days, I decided that it was finally time to write a post about how to get the most out of your Coachella experience.

Here are 5 things that will help make your Coachella experience more enjoyable.

1.Fashion is fun but comfort is more important

I put months of thought into my outfits for Coachella but the most important thing I consider is comfort. If you think for a second that any of the Instagram models who wear heels in their photos are wearing those things all day long, you are out of your mind. It’s all about the sneakers and the boots. PRO TIP: Long skirts cover shoes ;P

2. Camelback or bust

I know they aren’t the most fashion forward accessory but they are convenient as hell. You can store everything you need in there. Snacks, sunscreen (no aerosol cans though), chapstick, bandaids (in case you didn’t take my advice about the heels) and most importantly, WATER. I know there’s green grass and music and distractions but you must remember that Coachella is in the desert. So leave those cute tiny bags at home, stuff your camelback with granola bars and DRINK UP!

3. Bundle up

Speaking of a backpack to put things in….Bring a damn jacket. Those desert nights can get pretty cold and trust me, you’re going to want to bring your own jacket. Just grab a windbreaker, shove it in your backpack and you’re all set.

4. Prepare for the wind!

I’m sure you’ve seen many many pictures of people at music festivals covering their faces with bandanas. Although some of those might be celebrities attempting to remain anonymous, most of them are to protect your sinuses from the dust. Because in addition to being cold at night, it also gets windy. Plus there’s people smoking all kinds of things and kicking up dust while they dance and so on. So do yourself a favor and protect that gorgeous nose of yours.

5. Put your damn phone away

Yeah, I know, I should take my own advice…but hear me out. You spent all of this money on tickets and clothing and food, don’t you want to actually enjoy it while you’re there? I’m not saying don’t take any photos or videos (DUH). But you don’t need to post every second of every day on Instagram. Usually, my friends and I find a good place for photos, take turns taking a TON of pics and then move on with the day. It takes about 10 minutes, we all end up with awesome content, and we can enjoy what we’re actually there for…THE MUSIC! So take that ferris wheel pic and enjoy the festival!

Stay safe, stay hydrated and have fun!

See you there kids…

xoxo Sally
