Dear Instagram Algorithm,

This is an intervention.

I am writing this letter as a friend who cares deeply for you and who is worried about you. I fear that you are on a path of destruction that will harm not only you, but also all those around you. If you continue on this path, you will start to lose those who care most for you and that is not something that I want to see happen to you.

Right now, you are alienating those who believe in you the most and I am begging you to please stop and reconsider your actions. I don’t know if you are aware how many people need your approval for their livelihood, but there are many. Your likes and approval mean a lot to many of your loyal friends and some of these friends count on these likes for their well-being. I am not saying that your approval is something that I need to survive, it’s not, but I would be lying if I said that I didn’t look forward to it. I mean, who doesn’t love a little confidence boost every once in a while?

This is a mutual relationship and in order to make this work, we both need to contribute. I promise to create great high quality content that I believe people want to see. But you need to promise to make sure that people actually get the chance to see it. If you can’t make an effort to change, I am afraid that I will not be able to stand by and watch you destroy yourself.

Please think about your loved ones and consider stepping off this potentially devastating path.

I truly care for you and as a friend, I hope you have a moment to seriously consider this advice.
